Bill Belichick refuses to name starting kicker, sabotaging Dolphins’ game-planning

Bill Belichick is a coach who will look for any competitive advantage he can find, to the point where many people believed he would hold off on naming his starting quarterback ahead of Week 1 for as long as possible in an effort to making it harder for opponents to game plan for the Patriots offense.

That didn’t happen as Cam Newton ran away with the job midway through camp, but that didn’t stop Belichick from withholding key information from the Dolphins ahead of their Week 1 matchup.

Miami may be able to prepare for the Patriots offense knowing Newton will be behind center, but good luck figuring out who will be starting at kicker before game time, suckers!

Belichick isn’t just giving out that vital information for free now…

How this will affect the Dolphins gameplan in any way? I don’t know, but if Belichick does something there has to be some 4D chess thinking behind it.

I don’t know if there’s anyone in the league who values specialists more than Belichick, who will go on a 10-minute rant on left-footed punters if given the opportunity. So he could very well think he’s giving the Patriots a competitive advantage by holding off on naming a starting kicker. I doubt the Dolphins are concerned, though.

I’m very much looking forward to New England beating the Dolphins on a fake field goal play and this post not aging very well.
