Bill Belichick keeping an eye on Lamar Jackson’s contract

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is in line for a big payday. His contract has been a hot topic of discussion around the league, so much so that it even got a great comment from New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Jackson has put together a stellar career. He has thrown for 10,498 yards and 90 touchdowns in a little more than four seasons of play. This includes a league-high 36 touchdowns in 2019. He has received several major individual accolades for his efforts.

Jackson was named the NFL MVP in 2019 and has made the Pro Bowl twice in his career. He was also named a First-Team All-Pro in 2019. Simply put, he is putting together an impressive resume.

But he has yet to come to a long-term deal in a contract year with the Ravens. Belichick believes Jackson has done enough to prove his ability to throw from the pocket, but even he’s interested in seeing what the next contract looks like.

“Without a doubt,” said Belichick, when asked if Jackson answered questions on his ability to play in the pocket, via WEEI’s Andy Hart. “It’s the type of the player, the MVP type of candidate. I think he’s more than answered them. But, we’ll see what his contract is, that will answer them.”

Belichick and the Patriots will get a front-row seat for Jackson on Sunday, as the Patriots try to win their second consecutive game of the season.
