Bill Belichick explains snubbing Brenden Schooler’s fumble celebration

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is obviously a man who leads by example, as evident in him snubbing special-teamer Brenden Schooler’s fumble celebration in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Schooler, who came up with a muffed punt late in the fourth quarter, attempted to give the ball to Belichick on the sidelines, but the coach denied him right where he stood. When appearing on The Greg Hill Show, Belichick explained why he wouldn’t accept Schooler’s gifted game ball.

“It’s always exciting for guys to make plays and exciting for all of us,” said Belichick, while laughing. “We’re happy when we make them. But yeah, just gotta move on. Go to the next play.”

The sports world hasn’t seen a denial that harsh since the MLB fan got slapped for attempting a ring pop marriage proposal at a Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox game.

For Belichick, it’s on to the next play like it’s on to the next game at the next city. Even with victory in hand, his poker face remains infallible.
