Bill Belichick declines the Presidential Medal of Freedom

Earlier this week it was reported that President Donald J. Trump would be awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

This evening, the Patriots head coach released a statement stating that he would not be traveling to accept the award, and that in light of “…the tragic events of last week” that “…the decision has been made not to move forward with the award.”
