Bill Belichick confident in Stephen Gostkowski: ‘Just have to work harder at it’

The New England Patriots absolutely steamrolled the Miami Dolphins in Week 2 and everyone on the roster seemed to play exceptionally, except for Stephen Gostkowski.

He missed two point-after attempts and a 48-yard field goal — while getting oddly iced on one of the point-after attempts. His missed field goals were covered up by an incredible team performance in the 43-0 shellacking.

Gostkowski was highly critical of his performance after the game.

“I stunk today,” Gostkowski said. “Not my day. It was pretty terrible on my part. Today just sucked.”

Bill Belichick spoke on Monday about Gostkowski’s performance and he’s ready to move past it.

Gostkowski has been with New England for 14 seasons and has kicked field goals at 87.3 percent. He has been reliable when it’s mattered most and a Week 2 matchup against the Dolphins won’t hinder his spot on the roster.
