Bill Belichick avoids topic of potentially coaching last game with Tom Brady

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has a long history with quarterback Tom Brady. But Belichick didn’t have interest in reflecting upon their bond of 20 years. The coach was asked on Thursday about potentially spending his final game with Brady, whose contract is set to expire during the 2020 offseason.

“We’re focused on the Titans,” Belichick said Thursday ahead of New England’s matchup with Tennessee in the wild-card round of the playoffs. “That’s really — that’s all I’m focused on, so we’ll do everything we can to get ready to go and play our best game on Saturday night.”

As Belichick said on Thursday, New England is in a “one-game season.” A loss results in elimination from the playoff. That could be the beginning of the end for Brady and Belichick. Of course, there is time for the two parties to agree on an extension.

But if Brady and Belichick lose to the Titans and if the quarterback signs elsewhere in free agency, this game would be the end of an era in New England.
