Bill Bailey has called for the BBC to revive the hit music-themed panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
The programme ran for 28 series from from 1996 to 2015, with Bailey starring as a team captain for six years opposite comedian Phil Jupitus.
Taking the form of a two-teamed panel quiz, Buzzcocks was note-worthy for its exclusive focus on music and the music industry.
Bailey, who was recently seen in the BBC’s hit dance programme Strictly Come Dancing, told The Mirror he was in favour of a prospective Buzzcocks reboot.
“I don’t think there is a show that’s similar [to Buzzcocks] now,” he said. “I don’t think there is anything that’s replaced it. I’s not like they’ve given it a reboot and changed the format.”
The comedian revealed that episodes would sometimes film for more than two hours, and said that the show was “some of the best fun I've ever had on television”.
Bailey recently participated in Strictly Come Dancing’s 18th season, and was crowned the overall winner alongside partner Oti Mabuse.
The victory means that Bailey, who heavily incorporates musical performance into his stand-up comedy routines, became the oldest winner in the series’ history at 55.
