Bill Bailey leaves Strictly in filthy car waving Glitterball trophy out the window

Beaming Bill Bailey celebrated creating Strictly Come Dancing history by driving home in a dirty car while lofting the Glitterball trophy out the window.

The 2020 winner toasted his success by giving passers-by an eyeful of his prize as he left the studio late on Saturday night.

It certainly wasn't a football-style victory parade, but the champion seemed to be having a great time as he was given a big cheer as he said goodbye after leaving the BBC studio.

Wearing an unmissable green mask, he dangled himself out of the car window to give everyone a good look at his glittering prize.

He may now be Strictly royalty, but Bill's carriage could do with a clean.

After being crowned the winner, his get-away vehicle was filthy with mud clearly visible down one side.

That didn't mean Bill was going to keep a low profile on his way home.

He becoming the oldest winner ever on the show, as pro dance partner Oti Mabuse claimed victory for a second year in a row.

They beat HRVY and Janette Manrara, Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer, and Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez to win the Glitterball.

Upon the announcement, Bill threw his hands in the air and said: "What? What? Oh my god!"

He soon composed himself and said: "It feels surreal, it feels extraordinary, it feels wonderful.

"I never thought that we would get this far, I never thought we would get to the final.

"But I have the most extraordinary teacher, the most extraordinary dancer, someone who believed in me right from the beginning."

Oti also won the show last year with Kelvin Fletcher.

She paid tribute to him, saying: "Bill, I think you are amazing, remarkable Bill Bailey, you just put your heart into everything.

"You let me into your world and I always want to be in your world and a part of you."
