Bill and Alex raise cash for local charity in daring bungee jump

Two brave family members took a plunge to raise a huge amount of money in a sponsored bungee jump.

Bill McNeil, 61, and his granddaughter Alex-Jane Miller, 17, made the trip to Killiecrankie to do the Highland Fling bungee jump.

Bill works for SSE Energy and Alex, who stays in Cambusnethan, goes to Coltness High School.

They were raising money for Wishaw’s DreamMaker Foundation, and raised a £810 for the charity.

Speaking to the Wishaw Press, Bill, who stays in Waterloo, said: “We chose DreamMaker for a few reasons.

“As it is a local charity, we thought that it was really important to give back to them in a way.

“I also know of people who have had a rough couple of years and they have helped them, so that was another factor.”

Setting off for the bungee, Bill said that Alex was “buzzing with the excitement all day”.

He said: “It was a sort of belated birthday present for Alex so she was really excited to go.

“She got so much out of the day, she wouldn’t stop talking about it after it happened.”

“I was a paratrooper back in 1985, so I was semi-prepared. I couldn’t say the same for Alex though.”

DreamMaker co-ordinator Angela Cook said: “This means the world to us.”
