The barista managed to resist, bracing herself against the counter and slamming the window shut as Guerrero released his grip and fled the scene. Police identified Guerrero through the credit card receipt he left behind. During interrogation, he admitted to the assault, attributing his actions to intoxication and emotional distress following a breakup.
According to Guerrero, he acted impulsively and released the barista when she cried for help. Guerrero has pleaded not guilty to first-degree attempted kidnapping and is awaiting his next court appearance in September.
