Bikies fined for alleged social distancing breaches at SA gathering

More than two dozen people have been fined for allegedly breaching social distancing regulations at a bikie gathering in Adelaide's northern suburbs, police have said.

Just after 10:00pm on Friday, members of SA Police's Crime Gang Task Force and Serious Organised Crime Branch attended an address on Beafield Road at Para Hills West.

Police said officers found 12 members of a declared bikie group, and another 17 with links to the group.

The 24 men and five women were each issued with a $1,000 fine for being present at a prohibited gathering under the Emergency Management Act.

Up until last week, a maximum of 10 people were allowed at gatherings as long as social distancing of 1.5 metres could be ensured.

Under stage two of lifting restrictions, which starts today, that number has increased to 20 people but distancing rules still apply.

The group at Para Hills West was the latest to be penalised for failing to comply with restrictions on social gatherings introduced in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

More than a dozen people were fined $1,000 each after police were called to a large street fight and then a house party in Whyalla just over a fortnight ago.

That came weeks after 11 people who allegedly failed to heed three police warnings were fined over a noisy party at Port Augusta in April.

Four women were arrested in May for allegedly operating an active suburban massage parlour in Adelaide.

Police said three massage therapists and the operator of the business were arrested after Licensing Enforcement Officers attended the Croydon Park premises.

A south-east pub that allegedly flouted coronavirus restrictions to serve drinks in its front bar has also been fined more than $5,000.
