Bikie standover man charged over execution-style killing

A notorious Rebels standover man has been charged over the execution-style killing of South Coast father Johnny Salafia, more than four years ago.

Mr Salafia, 38, was shot several times in the head and chest when he answered a knock at the front door of his Kings Point home about 10:30pm on June 23 2013.

Police found his body at the front door. His wife and two young daughters were at home at the time.

Homicide detectives from Strike Force Hobbler arrested Robert McCloskey, 42, at a home at Surfside, north of Batemans Bay about 6:00am today.

The Rebels bikie gang member was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station and charged with Mr Salafia's murder.

He was refused bail and is expected to face Batemans Bay Local Court later today.

Mr Salafia's family have said the father-of-three briefly joined the Rebels in the early 2000s but quit after about six months.

The ABC understands his targeted killing is related to his association with the outlaw motorcycle club.

Police said investigations are continuing.
