GHAZIABAD: A Siddharth Vihar resident was allegedly robbed of her gold chain by a man she had mistook to be a technician from an RO firm.
According to police, the woman, Reshma Singh, was standing in the gallery of her building around 3pm on May 14 when a man, dressed in formal clothes, approached her. While she mistook him to be a technician from a RO company, the man snatched a gold chain and ran away. The accused fled with his accomplice on a bike.
The family claimed that a complaint was submitted in the case immediately and the police had also obtained the CCTV footage but no FIR has been filed in the matter so far.
SHO of Vijay Nagar Yogendra Malik, meanwhile, said an initial probe indicated that the accused had taken the gold chain from the woman on some pretext and replaced it with a duplicate. “We are investigating the matter and an FIR will be lodged soon,” he added.
