Bikers hit the road with Christmas gifts in tow

IT was festive spirit on two wheels on Sunday as dozens of motorcycle riders hit the road on a special present-delivery ride from Stockton to John Hunter Hospital.

More than 50 riders from the Hunter and Central Coast took part in the now annual ride, organised by local social motorcycling group Let's Ride Newy-Hunter.

The riders, most of whom were dressed as Santa, gathered at Stockton's General Washington Hotel in the mid-afternoon before heading off to the hospital about 5.30pm.

The group's riders delivered a trailer-load of presents, stopped for photos and then completed two laps of the hospital with music and horns blaring.

Organiser Lisa Paul said the riders belonged to various social clubs in Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Central Coast, but came together Sunday's ride.

"This year we advertised it a bit longer," she said.

"We've got more than 2500 riders within our social media pages.

"Everyone was really excited. Presents for kids from zero to 18 years of age."
