THOUSANDS of generous motorcyclists and their passengers have joined forces to spread joy to children in need at Christmas, at the 44th Bikers For Kids' Newcastle Toy Run.
Chairman Darren Young said about 7500 motorcyclists "with big hearts" rode from Stockton to Wickham Park on Sunday, with about 60 per cent carrying a pillion passenger.
He said spectators lined the entire route.
"That's one of the best moments," he said.
"It does bring a tear to your eye - it's very overwhelming."
Mr Young said the motorcycles carried toys that riders and members of the public had donated, including surfboards, electric bikes and soccer balls.
He said the toys filled a semitrailer to half height and would be given to the Salvation Army to distribute.
"It was absolutely unreal to think that's what we're doing. Every kid deserves to smile and a kid's smile will light up the world."
