Biker taken to hospital in 'serious condition' as crash causes long delays in Radcliffe

A motorbike rider has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Radcliffe.

Paramedics rushed to Water Street, close to the junction with Ainsworth Road, at around 8am this morning.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said the collision involved a car and a motorbike, and that the biker, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital in a 'serious condition'.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area, with long queues building up after the road was partially blocked by emergency crews.

In a tweet, a spokesperson for Transport for Greater Manchester said: "Water Street, Radcliffe. Delays in the area due to an RTC at the junction with Ainsworth Road.

"Allow an extra time for your journey."

The incident closed the road in both directions, with congestion back to Dale Street and onto Bolton Road.

It was fully reopened after around an hour but queues remain around the scene of the crash.
