Biker taken to hospital after three-vehicle crash in east Manchester

A biker has been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash in east Manchester.

Emergency services were called to the smash on Ashton Old Road, in Openshaw, just after 7.30am this morning (Wednesday).

Two cars and a motorbike collided, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said.

The biker, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital from the scene.

He suffered serious leg injuries.

Police closed off part of Ashton Old Road near the junction with Louisa Street after the crash.

It has now been reopened.

In a statement, a NWAS spokesperson said: "The initial 999 call was received at 07.37, reporting an RTC between two cars and a motorbike.

"We took the rider, a man believed to be aged in his 30’s, to hospital suffering serious leg injuries."

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called just before 8:00am to Ashton Old Road, to reports of a collision involving two vehicles and a motorbike.

"Emergency services attended, a man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, and inquiries are ongoing."
