The incident happened around 5.30pm on Saturday, September 26 on Bypass Road, Beith, at the junction with the B777.

A grey Mini Cooper travelling east on Head Street, Beith collided with a black Yamaha motorcycle travelling north on the A737.

As a result, a 52-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

The female driver of the car was not injured.

The road was closed for around two and a half hours to allow for crash investigation and recovery of the vehicles.

Sergeant Ian Thornton of Ayrshire Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to get in touch.

“We are also asking anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash or anyone with dashcam footage or any other information which may assist to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2826 of 26 September, 2020.
