A biker who lost control and crashed on the M61 was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway near junction 9 for the M65 at around 8.50am on Sunday (August 22).
The motorway was shut for more than three hours to allow police and paramedics to attend and investigate the scene.

Lancashire Constabulary this morning confirmed a man riding a chopper motorbike lost control and fell onto the carriageway.
The 45-year-old, from Clitheroe, suffered serious chest and shoulder injuries.
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made and police are appealing for witnesses following the incident.
