Biker rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after crash near Edenfield

A motorcyclist was left with serious injuries following a crash near a popular beauty spot.

The collision happened at around 3.30pm on Sunday on Edenfield Road, close to the Ashworth Moor Reservoir and Owd Betts pub, between Rochdale and Edenfield.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and the road was closed for some time while they treated the biker - described by the ambulance service as a man in his 40s.

The area was extremely busy over the weekend with visitors travelling to the moors to go for walks or relax in the sunny weather.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said the injured man had been rushed to hospital.

She said: "We were called to a collision involving a vehicle and a motorbike.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and a senior clinician to the scene.

"We treated on patient for serious injuries and they were taken to hospital."

The man's current condition is unknown but the Manchester Evening News have approached Greater Manchester Police for more information.
