Biker rushed to hospital with serious injuries after crash in Tyldesley

A biker has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Tyldesley.

Witnesses say the incident happened near the Century City chip shop on Shuttle Street at around 4pm.

Police confirmed the rider has suffered serious injuries and has since been taken to hospital.

The road has been closed from Henry Street to Primrose Street and police and paramedics are currently at the scene.

An air ambulance was also seen landing nearby the crash.

Traffic is currently being diverted onto Ellesmere Street.

The road is currently shut (ASP)

Speaking to the MEN , a staff member at the Century City chip shop claims the crash came following a police pursuit.

They said: “The road is still closed and the police are still here. It happened at about 4pm.

“It's one motorbike. The police were chasing the bike.”

It is not yet known when the road will reopen.

A spokesman for GMP said: “Police are currently dealing with an RTC involving a motorbike on Shuttle Street in Tyldesley.

“The rider has suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.”
