CHANDIGARH: A man on a motorcycle allegedly sexually harassed a diplomat while she was taking a morning walk in Sector 10 on Wednesday, prompting the police to register a case.
In her complaint, the diplomat said she left her house at 6.45 am. As she took a left turn from the roundabout before Hotel Mountview towards the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA), Sector 10, the accuse approached her from the rear. He patted her on her back, she alleged. When she shouted and ran after him, he sped away. Later, she reached CLTA and told her tennis coach about the incident.
The woman filed a complaint on an official letterhead at the Sector 3 police station.
Ketan Bansal, SP (city), police confirmed receiving the complaint. He said police registered a case under section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code. Cops are scanning CCTV cameras of the area to get clues about the accused.
An official spokesperson of the organisation said, “We can confirm that an official complaint has been registered and a police investigation is under way. We are grateful for the assistance provided by the police.”
