Biker killed in horror smash with car on Scots country road

A biker has been killed in a horror smash near a Scots beauty spot.

His green Kawasaki and a grey Audi Q2 crashed at around 3.50pm yesterday on the A708 between Moffat and Selkirk, near the Grey Mare’s Tail.

The 33-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene by police and paramedics.

Sergeant William Broatch, of Dumfries and Galloway Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends affected by this incident.

“We are continuing to carry out a thorough investigation into this crash and we are looking for assistance from the public to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this."

Safety experts have shut the the road to assess surface damage.

The road between the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway is popular with bikers.

Sgt Broatch added: “I would ask that if you were in the area at the time and have any information that could assist us then please get in contact.

“If there is anyone who has possible dashcam footage of the incident I would urge you to get in touch with officers."
