Biker in hospital after crash with Audi TT in Dundee as cops appeal for dashcam footage

A motorbike rider has been seriously injured in a crash in Dundee.

The horror incident happened near Macalpine Road on Kingsway West on Sunday afternoon.

Traffic police in Tayside are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the smash.

Officers confirmed the 56-year-old biker - who was riding an April motorbike - was taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries.

The 50-year-old driver of tan Audi TT that was also involved in the incident was unhurt.

A Police Scotland spokesman told Dundee Live: “Road Policing officers in Dundee are appealing for information and witnesses following a road crash involving a car and a motorbike, which took place on the Kingsway West yesterday (Sunday, 27 March).

“The incident took place near to Macalpine Road, around 3.15pm, and involved a grey Audi TT and an Aprillia motorbike.

“As a result of the incident, the 56-year-old man riding the motorbike was taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

“The 50-year-old man who was the driver and sole occupant of the car was uninjured.”

The spokesman revealed the busy road was shut for over three hours after the crash and eventually re-opened at 6.40pm.

Sergeant Gordon Dickson, from the Tayside Road Policing Unit, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash or the vehicles involved to please come forward.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was traveling on the Kingsway and may have seen two motorbikes traveling together prior to the crash.

“If you have any information, or potential dashcam footage, please call 101, quoting incident 1961 of 27 March.”
