Biker in his 20s taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into traffic lights

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a set of traffic lights near Bristol.

The incident took place in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, April 16) in Saltford.

Police attended the incident on A4 Bath Road shortly after 4.30am and the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital, SomersetLive reports.

Avon and Somerset Police advised anyone undertaking essential journeys today amid the coronavirus lockdown to avoid the area until further notice.

The statement said: "Shortly after 4.30am this morning a motorcycle collided with traffic lights on Bath Road in Saltford.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

"Road closures are in place at the scene of the collision as officers continue to carry out enquiries.

"Anyone making an essential journey this morning is advised to find an alternative route."

The road has now reopened.
