Biker in 'critical' condition after crash near Cwmbran

A motorcyclist was left in a critical condition following a road traffic collision near Cwmbran just over a week ago, and police are now asking anyone with any information about the incident to contact them.

The incident, which happened shortly after 8pm on Saturday, September 12, involved a car and a motorbike and took place on the A4042 southbound between Crown roundabout and Turnpike roundabout.

In a statement issued this Monday, September 21, a spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "The motorbike rider, a 45-year-old man from Cwmbran, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, for treatment.

"His condition is described as critical but stable."

Gwent Police added: "Anyone with any information or dash-cam footage of the area at the time of the collision is urged to get in contact by calling us on 101 quoting reference 2000334134."

The vehicles involved in the incident were a silver Ford Fiesta and a clue Honda CBR 600 motorbike.

There have been several incidents reported on the A4042 near Croesyceiliog in the past few years, including an incident in 2018 in which a pensioner received "life-changing" injuries while cycling near the Turnpike roundabout.
