Biker hurt in crash on busy road close to town centre

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a road crash in the Birkenhead area this afternoon.

It happened at the junction of Argyle Street South, just outside the town centre, with the entrance to Argyle Industrial Park in Appin Road.

Police and ambulance crews were sent to the scene shortly after 2pm.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.05pm today to reports of a road traffic collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a motorcycle at the junction of Argyle Street South and Appin Road in Birkenhead.

"Both vehicles stopped at scene.

"The rider of the bike suffered an injury to his wrist."

A badly damaged black Ford Fiesta was visible at the scene, along with the bike.

Emergency vehicles had left the scene by around 3pm.
