Biker seriously injured after crash at busy Leeds crossroads

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Leeds.

The 22-year-old biker collided with a Ford Kuga on the Butt Lane Crossroads, at around 11.30am Tuesday, May 19.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the man has been taken to hospital "with serious injuries that were not believed to be life threatening."

One of the man's relatives claims that he collided with a car travelling at "full speed" and he has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

She also said that only one family member has been able to see him due to the coronavirus restrictions.

An air ambulance was called to the scene at 11.33am, but the man was taken to hospital in a road ambulance.

Tong Road was closed in both directions while emergency services responded to the collision, but it has been reopened.

A police spokesman said: "At 11.35am today police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a Ford Kuga at the junction of Tong Road and Butt Lane, Farnley.

"The rider of the motorbike, a 22-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

"A road closure was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident."
