Biker dad dies in road smash leaving family heartbroken

A Lanarkshire dad died in a road crash at the weekend.

Alexander Carson, better known as Lex, was fatally injured while driving his motorbike on the A701 late on Friday afternoon.

The 64-year-old Carluke man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are trying to piece together the circumstances leading up to the smash and appealed to anyone who saw the black and red bike on the Dumfries to Edinburgh road, near Moffat to get in touch.

Sergeant Billy Broatch said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Carson’s family at this sad time.

“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or have any information that could assist with our enquiries to get in touch."

Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
