Biker, 72, from Salford who died after horror crash in Cumbria is named

A motorcyclist who died after a horror crash in Cumbria has been named as a man from Greater Manchester.

Ronnie Monks, 72, from Worsley in Salford was riding a black Triumph Rocket motorbike when he was involved in a crash on Townhead Lane in the village of Ravenstonedale, around twenty miles north east of Kendal.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, close to the junction with the main A683 road just south of the market town of Kirkby Stephen shortly after 4pm on Saturday afternoon, July 11.

However Mr Monks sadly died at the scene, Cumbria Police said in a statement naming him today.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers they said.

No further details about the collision have been released by police.

However they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
