Biker, 45, killed in Lanarkshire crash named as police probe rages on

A biker who sadly died following a crash in South Lanarkshire has been named by police.

Glasgow Live previously reported that emergency crews were called to the A702 near Elsrickle, north of Biggar, at around 6.40pm on Monday, June 6.

The alarm was raised following a collision that involved a Honda motorbike and a lorry.

Police previously confirmed that the biker, aged 45, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lanarkshire Police Division on Friday revealed that the deceased was John Morrison from Whitburn, West Lothian and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The lorry driver, a 40-year-old man, was uninjured.

Officers are re-appealing for information as they work to find out what exactly caused the smash.

Police would like to speak to the driver of a minibus who stopped at the scene before driving on to Edinburgh.

Those who witnessed the incident and any other motorists who drove along the road that evening are urged to come forward.

Sergeant Andy Currie from the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell, also expressed his condolences for John's loved ones.

He said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Morrison’s family and friends.

“Enquiries continue into the cause of this crash and I would again urge anyone who witnessed this crash or who has any information that may assist us to come forward.

"We are keen to speak to the driver of a minibus that stopped at the scene shortly after the crash happened and provided assistance.
