Commuters were left stunned after a huge brawl broke out between two groups of youths in a quiet north Dublin village yesterday evening.
The shocking incident took place at around 7pm near a bus stop on Main Street in Malahide.
A bicycle was stolen during the row, which spilled over on to the busy road.
An eye-witness described the scene as "bonkers".
He told Dublin Live: "I saw an aggressive young lad pull out the seat and bar of a bike and use it as a weapon to fight off another lad.
"The fight ended with a thief cycling off with one of the lads' bikes.
"The victim ran to Malahide Garda Station while his mates remained pondering what to do from here."
The witness added that the victim's friends were shortly joined by a number of youths who happened to arrive on a bus.
The group of around 15 young men then pursued the thief up a nearby road.
A garda spokesman confirmed they are investigating the theft of the bicycle.
