Bike-riding robber stole from same pharmacy two weekends running

A knife-wielding robber has admitted stealing medication from the same Canberra pharmacy on consecutive weekends.

Both incidents, at Priceline in Amaroo, ended with local man Jake Tony Walden using a bicycle to flee the scene of the crime.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery when he appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court over the phone on Monday morning.

Prosecutor Alexandra Back withdrew a further two charges of failing to comply with a public health direction.

Police have previously said the first robbery occurred about 7.20pm on August 1, while the second took place about 11.10am on August 7.

MORE COURT AND CRIME NEWS:

Walden was armed with a different knife on each occasion, with the charges read to him by Magistrate James Lawton indicating he initially brandished a 10-centimetre blade before returning for the second hold-up with a blade roughly twice as long.

Staff at the pharmacy complied with demands to hand over medication both times.

Following the entry of Walden's pleas, Mr Lawton committed the 26-year-old to the ACT Supreme Court for sentence.

The Amaroo man, who has been in custody since his arrest on August 26, is listed to make his first appearance in that court next Thursday morning.
