Bike rider, 36, hurt at Gateshead

CRASH investigators are seeking information after a cyclist was found with serious injuries at Gateshead following a suspected collision with a car.

A passer-by found the 36-year-old about 12.30am on Saturday at the corner of Oxford and Church Streets suffering a head injury.

Police said he was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

Investigators said initial inquiries indicated the rider may have been involved in a collision with a car.

Officers are hoping to speak with anyone who may have seen the rider in the area before he was injured.

Anyone who saw the cyclist in the area or who has information for police is urged to call the Hunter Crash Investigation Unit via 1800 333 000.
