Bijli Mahotsav: Spotlight on future energy development across UP

VARANASI: A Bijli Mahotsav (electricity festival) –‘Ujjawal India, Ujjawal Bhavishya, Power @ 2047 was organized at the NTPC Singrauli, Shaktinagar in Sonbhadra district on Friday. Under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ministry of Power, Government of India is organizing “Ujjawal India, Ujjawal Bhavishya, Power @ 2047’ in various districts across the country from July 25 to 30.

The programme was inaugurated by the social welfare minister of UP, Sanjeev Kumar Gond. Speaking on the occasion, the minister highlighted the important role of the government in the field of household electrification. He said that Bijli Mahotsav is being celebrated all over the country to ensure the maximum public participation and development of the power sector can be taken to the citizens on a large scale.

Chief general manager, NTPC Singrauli, Basuraj Goswami said that today the power generation capacity of the country has become 4.00 lakh MW and the country needs to become completely self-reliant in terms of energy generation by 2047. The objective of “Ujjawal India, Ujjawal Bhavishya, Power @ 2047” is to outline the possibilities of future energy development of new and renewable energy by the central and state governments.

The development of the energy sector was displayed through banners, posters, audio video visual films like Universal Household Electrification, Village Electrification, Distribution System Strengthening, Capacity Augmentation, One Nation One Grid, Film on Renewable Energy, Consumer Rights, Street plays and cultural programmes.
