Bihar: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav calls for Raj Bhavan march against Agnipath scheme on June 22

PATNA: Leader of opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, on Sunday said all the legislators of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan will march from Bihar Vidhan Sabha to the Raj Bhavan on June 22 demanding employment for youths and rollback of the Centre's Agnipath scheme.

Tejashwi, at a press conference in Delhi also asked the Centre 20 questions, mostly related to the Agnipath scheme.

He wrote on his social media page that the government schemes, which are formulated without thinking, get crashed even before landing. "Such schemes face premature deaths. Still BJP people keep doing hip-hip-hurray and then seek pardon."

The RJD leader said 60% of the youths had confusion regarding Agnipath, which the government should clear. His first question was whether Agniveer roped in for four years on contract will get 90 days' leave like the regularised soldiers?

He also asked why not the officers were roped in the Defence services in the same way the government was planning to take Agniveers for four years. "Is this scheme like MGNREGA for educated youths or there is a hidden agenda of the Sangh?" he asked while seeking clarification whether the amount the Agniveers will get in four years will be taxable and these youths will get gratuity or not?

Tejashwi also asked about the facilities the Agniveers would get like canteen and health benefits. He also queried whether the defence experts were contacted for advice and suggestions before coming up with such scheme.

Continuing his attack on the NDA government, Tejashwi reminded it of the 2 crore jobs each year as promised and why over 10 lakh vacant posts were not being filled in various central government departments in their regime.

He also appealed to the youths not to become violent while raising their demand and rather follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi and Ram Manohar Lohia.
