Bihar: Son of ex-mukhiya held with narcotics in Gaya

Gaya: A special police team conducted raid at the furniture shop of one Pravesh Singh at Chakand Bazaar on Tuesday afternoon and seized about 250 grams of marijuana and 10 small packets of heroin like substance from his shop and arrested Singh, said police on Wednesday. Singh is son of a former mukhiya and brother-in-law (husband's elder brother) of a district board member in Gaya.

"Acting on a tip off about sale of narcotics in Chakand police station area, a special team headed by ASP (law and order) and SHOs of Chakand and Belaganj police stations conducted the raid. Following information provided by Singh, the team also conducted a raid at the house of Manoj Singh from where nearly 7 grams of heroin, Rs 3.79 lakh cash, about 400 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of silver ornaments were recovered. Manoj, however, managed to escape from the house,” said assistant SP Manish Kumar at a press conference here during the day.

"The estimated cost of the seized narcotics and the ornaments is being assessed. Besides, police are verifying the criminal antecedent of the arrested person. Further raids are being conducted to nab others involved in the sale of narcotics,” the ASP added.
