BEGUSARAI: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy at a village under Cheria Bariarpur block in Begusarai district on April 3. According to sources, the local panchayat initially tried to "suppress" the matter but an FIR was lodged on April 7, following which the police arrested the accused.
The girl has alleged in her FIR that the incident occurred when she was returning home alone from her aunt's house. She alleged two boys forcibly took her to a nearby maize field and one of them raped her. The other boy, according to the girl, forcibly held her.
On getting information about the incident, the local panchayat called the parents of the girl as well as the accused and tried to hush up the matter. However, the family members approached the police on April 7.
Sub-inspector Khusboo Kumari, who is investigating the case, said medical examination of the girl was conducted. She said one of the accused was arrested under the POCSO Act. "We are awaiting medical report of the girl," she added.
