Bihar minister Sanjay Kumar Jha takes a dig at former JD(U) president RCP Singh, says only CM Nitish Kumar leader

PATNA: JD(U) on Friday took strong exception to the slogans raised by the loyalists of former party president RCP Singh, projecting him as the “future chief minister of Bihar”.

“JD(U) has only one leader — CM Nitish Kumar. Those who are projecting RCP Singh as the future CM are not the JD(U) workers,” party’s national general secretary and water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha said on Friday.

Jha also said, “The party runs on the programme, policies and thoughts of Nitish Kumar. No other person is the leader in JD(U),” said Jha, who is considered close to Nitish.

RCP, a former confidant of Nitish, had to quit as Union minister on July 6 after JD(U) denied him the third consecutive term in the Rajya Sabha.

RCP has been staying at his native village Mustafapur in Nalanda district since then. He attends social events like wedding ceremony or ‘shradh’ on the invitation of his loyalists.

On Thursday, RCP had gone to Balwapur Chakdah under Ghoswari police station in Patna district to attend the ‘shradh’ rituals of JD(U) state general secretary Arun Sahni’s mother. While RCP was on the way to Balwapur Chakdah via Sarmera-Mokama road, thousands of his supporters stood in queue on both sides of the road and raised slogans like “Bihar ka CM kaisa ho, RCP babu jaisa ho.”

When his cavalcade crossed through Mokama area, similar slogans were raised by his supporters at some villages in Mokama block, which is considered the stronghold of JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh.

A few days ago, when RCP had gone to Jehanabad to participate in the ‘shradh’ rituals at the house of another party worker, similar slogans were raised in his favour.
