Bihar: 'History of democracy in Bihar to be displayed at assembly museum'

PATNA: The 100-year journey of the state legislature, including some of the major decisions taken and speeches made by the great leaders, will be showcased at the upcoming museum on the assembly premises here.

The foundation for the museum was laid by PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday when he had come to attend the concluding ceremony of centenary celebration of state legislature building. The PM had also laid the foundation for a guesthouse.

Asked about the upcoming museum-cum-conference hall, assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha said, "Important speeches made by the dignitaries will be available for people at the museum. The state's rich heritage will also be showcased at the museum with the contribution of the legislators."

Building constriction department secretary Kumar Ravi said the museum would be spread in an area of 1.03 acres.

"A sum of Rs 48.76 crore has already been approved for the project. There will be six galleries depicting different themes and sub-themes. There will also be a conference hall with the capacity to accommodate 270 people. Most displays will be through audio-visual mode. The idea is to exhibit the history of democracy in Bihar," Ravi said.

He added the upcoming guesthouse would be a G+2 building spread across 0.79 acre and administrative approval of Rs 12.10 crore has been given for it. "It will have 16 guestrooms and seven suites along with housekeeping staff, dormitory, lounge area, kitchen, dining facility, indoor gymnasium and lawn," he added.
