Bihar: Dragging of body for autopsy, SI axed in Begusarai

BEGUSARAI: The sub-inspector on duty has been suspended in the case related to the dragging of the body of a young man by two sanitation staff for several metres with the help of a rope while taking it to Begusarai sadar hospital for a postmortem examination.

Begusarai SP Yogendra Kumar on Friday said a probe was conducted that confirmed that the standard operating protocol was violated in removal of the body. "The body was in a decomposed state. However, the dignity of the body was found to be compromised during its removal. I have suspended SI Anil Kumar Singh with immediate effect. Besides, a show-cause notice has also been served to the Lakho police outpost SHO in this regard," the SP said.

A video of two sanitation staff dragging the body of an unidentified young man to the local sadar hospital for postmortem went viral on Thursday leading to a probe.
