KHAGARIA: A sub-inspector (SI) of police was shot at in an encounter with criminals at Satghatta village under Alouli police station in Khagaria district late on Wednesday night. A criminal also received bullet injuries in the encounter.
A police team had gone to the village to arrest Shagun Yadav, a contract killer, and two of his accomplishes. On seeing the police team, the criminals started indiscriminate firing. The police also opened fire in retaliation.
Sadar DSP Sumit Kumar said SI Rajeev Kumar sustained bullet injuries in the attack. “Shagun also sustained three bullet injuries in his leg. Both of them were admitted to sadar hospital for treatment,” he added.
The DSP said Shagun was wanted in several criminal cases, including murder of a former mukhiya and customer service point operator.
