PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday made an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Darbhanga and Madhubani districts and asked the district magistrates to ensure that the people staying at the flood relief camps do not face any kind of inconvenience.
The CM also inspected the situation of floods in Kusheshwar Asthan Purvi block’s Adalpur and Sahorawa village where he reached through a boat provided by the NDRF as most of the areas near the two villages are submerged under the flood waters.
Accompanied by state’s water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha and several senior officials, the CM took stock of the situation in the flooded villages near Adalpur and Sahorawa and inquired about the facilities and relief being provided to the flood-affected people currently settled on the nearby roads.
Earlier, the CM landed at Harauli panchayat’s Asma helipad and from there, he went to the flooded Adalpur and Sahorawa village by the NDRF boat.
After inspecting the flood situation, Nitish went to a flood relief camp being run at the Higher Secondary School, Masankhor under Kusheshwar Asthan Purvi block and inquired about the arrangements made for the flood affected people.
The CM also inspected the temporary shelter made for the flood-affected pregnant women, community kitchen and a smart class being run in the school.
Nitish also talked to some flood-affected people currently staying at the relief camp, and inquired about the quality of foods being served at the community kitchen and other facilities being provided to the people at the flood relief camp.
Accompanied by senior officials, the CM also inspected a Covid-19 vaccination centre-cum-community health centre being run by the district health committee, Darbhanga, on the campus of Shankara Modern Public School, Gyaspura. During inspection of the health centre, Nitish made inquiries about the general OPD, eye OPD, medicine distribution centre.
Nitish also provided a cheque of Rs two lakh to Mohammad Rabbani under the Chief Minister Minority Loan Scheme, another cheque of Rs 25,000 to Nazma Afreen under the Muslim Deserted/ Divorced Women Assistance Scheme and another cheque of Rs 15,000 to Mamta Devi for bearing a female child at the flood relief camp.
The CM further asked the district officials to make necessary propaganda about availability of Covid-19 vaccines at the community health centres and ensure vaccination of maximum-possible people every day.
Later, talking to media persons, Nitish said his government was very serious on the issues related to flood and all necessary arrangements had been made to minimize the impact of floods.
“I do assessment of the flood situation on a daily basis and also visit different districts to review the flood relief works,” the CM said.
Nitish further said the people staying at the relief camp told him that the relief works were being done in a proper way in Darbhanga district.
