Bihar CM Nitish Kumar reviews preparations for grand functions on 554th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev

PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday reviewed the state government’s ongoing preparations for the forthcoming grand functions to be organized at Rajgir and Patna Sahib on the occasion of 554th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus.

The officers attending the review meeting held at ‘Sankalp’ hall of the CM residence here, informed Nitish that grand functions were being organized from November 3 to 5 at the Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak at Sheetal Kund, Rajgir; and from November 6 to 8 at Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib in Patna Sahib. The main functions would be organized on November 5 at Rajgir and on November 8 at Patna Sahib.

After taking feedback about the ongoing preparations from the officers, Nitish said a large number of Sikh devotees and pilgrims from across the nation and many foreign countries especially US, UK and Canada would arrive in the state to participate in the two functions.

The CM asked the officers to make perfect arrangements for their stay at both places and ensure proper cleanliness in both the township, so that pilgrims and devotees do not face any kind of difficulty while roaming around Sikh pilgrimage in Bihar.

Nitish further asked the officers to make necessary arrangements for the security of the visiting pilgrims. He said the local administration at Rajgir and Patna Sahib should make proper arrangements of e-rickshaws for local movement of the pilgrims.

He also asked the district administrations to make arrangements of enough buses for smooth travelling of pilgrims from Patna to Rajgir and Rajgir to Patna Sahib.

Nitish further asked administrative and police officials to remain in alert mode to provide necessary service and assistance to all visiting pilgrims during their stay in Bihar. “The state government is committed to provide all necessary assistance to the visiting pilgrims,” the CM said.

Prominent among those who were present at the review meeting were state’s finance minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, chief secretary Amir Subhani, DGP S K Singhal, development commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary (road construction and health) Pratyaya Amrit and transport secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal.
