PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar and leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday condoled the death of former minister Ramai Ram, who breathed his last at a private hospital here following a prolonged illness.
While the CM talked to Ram's daughter Geeta over phone and announced that state honour would be accorded to the departed leader during cremation, Tejashwi was the first to put the news about his death in the public domain through his twitter handle.
Ram was nine-time MLA from the Bochaha reserved assembly constituency in Muzaffarpur district. He served as minister in the RJD-led governments and also in the NDA government headed by Nitish. "He was a minister in various departments. He successfully performed as my ministerial colleague. Representing Bochaha as MLA nine times, he was very popular and actively involved for the welfare of the dalits and deprived sections," the CM said in his condolence message.
Deputy CM Tarksihore Prasad, in his condolence message, described Ram as the "grassroots leader" who was always concerned about the uplift of the dalits and weaker sections.
