Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inspects site of Anisabad-AIIMS elevated four-lane road project

PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the site of proposed Anisabad-Phulwari Sharif- AIIMS elevated four-lane road project and asked the road construction department (RCD) officials to begin construction work of the elevated road by preparing its detailed project report (DPR) by coming December.

A total sum of more than Rs 1,000 crore would be spent on the elevated road project.

Accompanied by the state’s finance minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, the CM visited Anishabad and Phulwari Sharif areas in the city and inspected the site of the proposed elevated road on the national highway (no-139).

The CM stopped at the Anishabad roundabout and the AIIMs roundabout and took detailed information about the project. During the inspection, state’s additional chief secretary (RCD) Pratyaya Amrit informed the CM that the total length of the road project would be 8.9 KM while the elevated portion would be 7.9 KM.

Amrit also informed the CM that two separate ramps would be built from the Anishabad side and the AIIMs side. He said more than Rs 1,000 crore would be spent on the project.

While inspecting the site, Nitish said the residents of Phulwari Sharif area would get relief from the frequent road jams once the proposed elevated road is constructed. In addition, the people would have convenience in reaching upto the AIIMS-Patna from the Anishabad side. The proposed elevated road would also improve movement of traffic in other parts of the state capital, the CM said.

The CM’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh and many other officials accompanied the CM during the inspection.
