Bihar CM Nitish Kumar disapproves of defiance shown by his agriculture minister

PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Wednesday disapproved of the defiance shown by his agriculture minister Sudhakar Singh and said he on Tuesday tried to inquire from the minister about his grievances during the cabinet meeting, but he (Singh) didn’t speak anything.

“You can inquire from any cabinet minister as to what happened during the cabinet meeting. You will get to know the truth,” Nitish told reporters while responding to a query about Singh walking out of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Singh belongs to the RJD.

Singh had walked out of the cabinet meeting on Tuesday evening after the CM tried to inquire from him about his grievances with the bureaucrats.

Asked about the agriculture minister’s contention that he would stick to whatever he has said about the prevailing corruption in his department, Nitish said “Please ask about him from the deputy CM sahib (Tejashwi).”

Singh, whose father Jagadanand Singh is the state RJD president, had spoken about rampant corruption at a public meeting in Kaimur district a couple of days ago.

The agriculture minister, who is said to be upset with some senior bureaucrats in his department, has reportedly threatened to resign upon being admonished by the chief minister for creating an “embarrassing situation” for the state government.

Responding to a query, Nitish defended the senior bureaucrats in the department and said the agriculture secretary was a nice officer. “I have been working with the agriculture secretary for the last many years on the agriculture road map. He is a nice person,” Nitish said.
