Bihar: 84-year-old Madhepura man booked for taking 11 Covid vaccine shots

MADHEPURA: An FIR was lodged against Brahmdeo Mandal (84) with Puraini police station in Madhepura district on Saturday for misleading the health department by using different ID cards to take multiple Covid vaccine shots.

Mandal, a resident of Orai village under the Puraini police station area, was booked on the basis of a complaint submitted by incharge of Puraini primary health centre. SHO of Puraini police station Deepak Chandra Das said the case was being investigated.

Mandal, a retired postmaster, had earlier claimed that he had taken 11 vaccine shots. He had taken his first vaccine jab at Puraini PHC on February 13 last year and the next at the same centre on March 13.

According to the claim, Mandal had preferred a sub-health centre at his village to take the third jab on May 19.

Mandal then took the fourth jab at the centre set up at the door of local PDS dealer Bhupendra Bhagat on June 16. He preferred to get the fifth jab at the camp held at Puraini Badi-Hat on July 24 and the sixth jab at the camp held at the shrine of Nath Baba on August 31.

He had taken the seventh and eighth jabs at the camp held in Bari Hat school on September 11 and 22, respectively. Mandal then chose the nearby Kalasan PHC for the ninth jab on September 24.

He changed his cellphone number and took the tenth jab at Parbatta in Khagariya district and the eleventh at Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district. He was caught when he had gone to a centre to take the 12th vaccine shot.
