PATNA: The Matriculation examinations, conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), will begin on Thursday. More than 16.48 lakh students, including 8.06 lakh girls, will write papers at 1,525 centres in state’s 38 districts amid tight security.
In Patna district alone, as many as 70,995 boys and girls will appear for the examination at 74 centres. The examinations will be held in two sittings – first sitting from 9.30am and second from 1.45pm. Examinees have been asked to reach their respective centres at least 10 minutes before the commencement of examination.
BSEB chairman Anand Kishore said prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr PC would remain vogue around the exam centres on all days of examinations and no unauthorised person would be allowed to enter the centre. Covid-19 protocol will be followed at all the centres and students will have to wear a face mask and get their hands sanitized.
Students will be frisked at the main entrance of the examination centre and inside the examination hall. They will not be allowed to carry calculators, cellphones, earphones or any other electronic gadget inside the examination hall.
“To ensure safe and smooth conduct of examinations, a control room has been set up in the BSEB office which will function from 6am on February 16 till 6pm on February 24. During this period any problem related to examination anywhere in the state will be tackled on war footing,” Kishore said.
There will be one invigilator for 25 examinees and each invigilator will have to submit a declaration to the effect that he or she has done frisking of all the 25 examinees under him or her and no undesirable object was found from their possession. Police force accompanied by magistrates will be deployed at all the centres.
If an examinee’s admit card is lost, s/he may be allowed to take the examination after establishing identity from the scanned photograph on the attendance sheet and verification from the roll sheet.
The BSEB will distribute pre-printed answer books and OMR sheets bearing candidate’s photographs. The examinees will be getting 100% additional choice in both objective and subjective questions. Answer books and OMR sheets will be handed over to the examinees simultaneously, but OMR sheets will be collected earlier at the specified time. There will be 10 sets of question papers (A to J) in each subject, the chairman said.
There will be four model exam centres in each district where all the examinees, invigilators, police, magistrates and other supporting staff will be women only. In Patna district, the model centres will be Govt Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Bankipur, Govt Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Shashtri Nagar, Kamla Nehru Girls’ High School, Yarpur, and Govt Girls’ High School, Gardanibagh, the chairman added.
