Biggest thing Ameer Abdullah can give Vikings is a little bit of everything

Ameer Abdullah is in the midst of his first training camp with the Vikings.

What exactly is his role?

On the team’s depth chart, he’s listed as the third running back behind Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. But he’s also listed as the team’s kick and punt returner.

The best way Abdullah can contribute to the Vikings in 2019 is to do a little bit of everything at a high level, which of course, is a very challenging thing.

“I want to be great in everything I do,” Abdullah said via the Pioneer Press. “I pride myself on that, whether it’s in the pass game or the run game. It doesn’t matter when my number is called. I’m not here to say I’m going to be this kind of guy or that kind of guy because things can change so quick. I’m just here to work and get better.”

It’s a good attitude for the veteran to have. As a former second-round pick, Abdullah might not have reached the peak some thought he was going to, but that doesn’t mean he can’t contribute and still end up with a very succesful NFL career.
